The whole idea

Log a meal in seconds, not sittings.

Every screen is built around one number: how long it takes to put food in the app. Bundles, recipes, and repeats are one tap. That's it.

  1. 01

    Open.

The + button is where you left it. No dashboards to click through, no meal type to pick first.

    Step 1: Open.
  2. 02

    Tap a bundle.

Your usual breakfast. Last night's leftovers. A recipe you cook every Tuesday. One tap, whole meal.

    Step 2: Tap a bundle.
  3. 03

    Done.

Calories, macros, streak — updated. You're already back on your phone doing something else.

    Step 3: Done.

There's a lot more in the app.

Bundles, recipes, alcohol calculator, coach, widgets, watch app, offline sync…

Our mission

We know there are a lot.
We want to be the best.

Calorie tracking has a reputation problem. Most apps treat food like data entry — endless dropdowns, guilt-y streaks, ads for meal plans you didn't ask for. People quit within a week and blame themselves.

We built Calpaca for the ones who tried and quit. Our job is to make logging a meal so fast, so unfussy, and so friendly that you actually keep doing it — on the good days, the burrito days, and the days you forget until dinner.

That's the whole mission: be the calorie tracker people don't quit. No dark patterns, no shame loops, no upsell popovers. Just an alpaca, a camera, and the fewest possible taps between you and your day.

Built by people who tried every other tracker first.

Photo in, macros out

The AI does the boring bit.

Point the camera at your plate — Calpaca fills in the calories, protein, carbs, and fat. Ask the coach whether that second slice fits your week. Concrete answers. No sparkle emoji.

The alpaca saysYou point the camera. I do the math. We both look busy.

The alpaca saysThe coach won't guilt-trip you. It's a calculator that talks back.

The alpaca saysthat's a lot of carbs. (I'm not judging. Much.)

People who actually kept logging.

I've quit three different trackers over the years. I've been on Calpaca for four months. The photo-log is genuinely magic — I snap my lunch, keep chewing, done.

Saved my burrito bowl as a meal and now Tuesday lunch is literally one tap. 82-day streak and it still feels effortless.

The coach told me my dinner had 'a lot of carbs' and then told me to relax, it's fine. That's the exact energy I needed from a calorie app.

I log a full week of client lunches in under a minute now. Snap, confirm, next meeting. Calpaca is the first tracker that keeps up with my calendar.

I use the barcode scanner in the grocery aisle to plan dinner before I buy it. Turns out that's the whole game. Down 6kg and I'm not miserable.

Six weeks in and it still feels like a game, not homework. Hitting my protein target is oddly satisfying — the app just gets out of the way. 10/10.

Reasonable questions

Before you download.

Who is Calpaca for?

It's for people who've tried other trackers and quit — the ones who want to eat with a bit more awareness without turning every meal into a spreadsheet. Beginners who need something friendly, and long-time loggers who are tired of clunky apps. If you want to lose weight, gain muscle, or just understand what you actually eat, Calpaca fits.

Is Calpaca actually free?

The tracker and the barcode scanner are free — you can keep using the basic features of the app for free after your trial ends. No paywall on logging your food. There's an optional pro tier for people who want photo-to-macros AI on tap, deeper trend charts, and exports, but you never need it to use the app.

How accurate is the photo-to-macros AI?

The photo-to-macros AI is a tool to make logging easier — not a lab measurement. You can add extra context to your photo (portion size, ingredients, cooking method) so the numbers land closer to reality, and every value is tappable so you can adjust on the fly.

Do I have to log every single thing?

No. Calpaca is built for people who track most days, not perfect days. Skip a meal, skip a week, come back — no red streaks, no guilt notifications at 11pm. That said: if you want the best results, you should track consistently. The more days you log, the more useful the trends and the coach become.

What about my data?

Your food log stays on your device and in your private account. We never sell it, never train shared models on your photos, and never share it with third parties. Export or delete everything from settings, anytime.

iPhone or Android?

Both. Calpaca is a native app on iOS and Android with an Apple Watch companion, home-screen widgets, and shortcuts on both platforms.

Does it work with my scale, ring, or watch?

Calpaca reads from and writes to Apple Health and Google Health Connect, which covers most popular scales, rings, and watches. It also syncs with exercise apps like Strava, so calories burned on your runs and rides show up automatically alongside what you ate.

minus the chore.
